CMDF-BURSA RESEARCH SCHEME
The purpose of the CMDF-Bursa Research Scheme (CBRS) is to raise the profile of small and mid-sized public listed companies by enabling the disclosure of timely information. This is achieved by the research coverage provided by the participating analysts. |
|
Under the Scheme, each participating PLC is provided with research coverage by two firms –Standard & Poor’s and a local research company. The research reports are published on the Bursa Malaysia website and are available free of charge to the public.
Bursa Malaysia is the administrator of this Scheme, and the CMDF subsidies 50% of the PLCs’ participating fee. The Scheme has just completed its pilot run of 300 PLCs in July 2007 and the CMDF is pleased to support the continuation of the Scheme for another two years, commencing January 2008, with 203 participating PLCs. Data from the pilot run has shown that there is positive correlation between the trading volume of participating PLCs. Information on this may be found at the Bursa/CBRS website. But more importantly, the data supports the underpinning rationale for funding the Scheme, as it enables investors to make informed investment decisions through the reports generated by the analysts. In addition, the scheme will also help to develop technical expertise in the area of financial research through its implementation. Further, the Scheme:
